Mysterious Small Creature Found on Sydney’s Streets Puzzles Biologists and Social Media Users
A perplexing discovery on the streets of Sydney has left biologists, academics, and social media users in bewilderment. According to LadBible, Harry Hayes stumbled upon the creature while jogging on a Monday morning.
Despite recent heavy rainfall in the city, this unusual creature wasn’t found in a flood zone. Instead, Mr. Hayes encountered it during his jog through Sydney’s Marrickville suburb.
“My gut says it’s some kind of embryo, but with Covid, World War III, and the floods [going on right now], this could very well be an alien,” he remarked.
The creature in question measures about four centimeters in size, as reported by Mr. Hayes. He shared a video of the creature on Instagram, and it quickly gained traction on other social media platforms such as Twitter. In the video, Mr. Hayes prods the creature with a stick, but it remains completely motionless.
The man’s attempts to provoke movement from the creature proved futile.
The bizarre-looking creature, often described as an “alien” by many on social media, began to go viral after Lil Ahenkan, a popular Australian influencer, shared its picture on Instagram. “What is this?” she captioned the image.
Speculations about the creature’s identity abound. One person suggested it might be a shark embryo or some other sea creature, while another confidently claimed it was an alien.
Even biologists found themselves at a loss when confronted with this enigmatic discovery. Ellie Elissa, a biologist, reposted the image on Instagram, seeking help in identifying the creature. “What in the what IS this thing? I thought possum/glider embryo, but I have no context or scale and none of my peers can agree,” she wrote.
Several potential explanations, including a cuttlefish embryo, a germinating seed, and a mutated tadpole, were all ruled out. When LadBible reached out to the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales for identification, both institutions were unable to provide answers.
