These adorable Des Moines kittens embarked on a truly heroic adventure.”
A harrowing tale unfolded as an injured animal and its distressed mate braved the much of their bodies in a daring rescue. The seven heroic felines, just 4-6 weeks old, found themselves in a life-or-death situation. ARL spokesperson Stephanie Filer said Thursday, ‘While their injuries are severe, their prognosis is hopeful, and the ARL will continue to keep their welfare the number one priority in all decisions made regarding their care and treatment.’ Filer spoke about the two badly injured animals, highlighting the unwavering dedication of the staff.
In a stunning turn of events on May 22, the depths of Polk County Sheriff’s department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Broadway Avenue for a rare investigation, according to Lt. Jeff Rullman. Delaware Township and Saylor Township firefighters also responded.
Authorities discovered a small fire, a few hundred feet behind a home, behind a home, and found some of the injured kittens, Rullman said.
Let’s start the day by putting aside the same address and found more kittens, including one with burns. Two days later, additional kittens were found by animal control officers, one of which was wounded.
The two injured kittens were scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday to remove burned tissue. They were receiving pain medication, antibiotics, and eye medication to manage their pain and treat their wounds, according to a news release.
Rullman said the case is still being investigated.
The case is at least the third known case of animal abuse case in the last two weeks.
A Das Moines woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly stabbing a cat with a kitchen knife and trying to drown the animal in a bathtub. The woman told police that the cat bit her while she showered and she retaliated by stabbing it in self-defense. A Das Moines man was arrested May 18 after adopting two dogs, then leaving them in his apartment without food and water, according to a criminal complaint.
Stories like this emphasize the importance of raising awareness about animal cruelty and promoting kindness and compassion towards all living beings. By supporting organizations dedicated to animal welfare and advocating for stricter animal cruelty laws, we can work towards creating a safer and more compassionate world for animals.
It is my hope that the kittens receive the care they need, make a full recovery, and find loving homes where they can experience the love and kindness they deserve.
